British Columbia is fucked [08 Jul 2004|10:27pm]
Our government is screwing us young people with their constant ass reaming of the educational system. Not only have they boosted tuition costs to some unholy height but they also subject us to interest payments on student loans.

SO basically you have to take a loan out to pay for school and you can't even go full time due to having to work to pay the fucking loan off. So what would take two years takes like four fucking years.

I have no damn money but i fully intend to go back to school this fall. If i have to i will resort to whoring myself out 'cause i'm sick of resting on my fucking laurels waiting for the money to arrive. I work but only work part time and i am not making nearly enough to pay for my loan AND tuition.

FUCK FUCK FUCK!

bathory
You are Elizabeth Bathory. (The bloodcountess)
Legend tells us that you, this very rich,
beautiful and high born woman tortured and
murdered some 650 young women and bathed in
their warm blood to keep yourself beautiful.
In some stories, it is said you have drank thier
blood as well. You were a sexual sadist on a
grand scale.
Ah vanity is your downfall. For shame!

Margaret Cho is my hero. [19 Apr 2004|10:24pm]
Taken from her Revolution tour

Racism and homophobia are the exact same thing, in that when somebody insults me and says that I'm fat or ugly or not funny or stupid or whatever, I can argue that. But when somebody says something about my race, I feel it, because that’s who I am. When somebody attacks your sexuality, it hurts, because that's you, you can't change that. Sexuality and race are the essential parts of ourselves, we cannot remove… or destroy. They are the you of you, the me of me, and I'm so fortunate to have grown up in both camps this activism, this history that I have is in me. I think my favorite activist group was from the 80s, and they were ACTA. And uh, they had a great slogan which was "Silence equals death," it meant if we don't talk about AIDS, we will die of AIDS. And I adopt a similar slogan for me, "silence equals non-existence." If I don't give "too much information," if I don't "go there," its like I was never there in the first place. And I noticed this most right after September 11th, when there were no gays or lesbians invited to give their opinion about what was going on, there were no women invited, there were hardly any people of color invited, and if they were, they were Muslim Americans and Arab Americans talking about the violence they had experienced because they shared the same skin color as the terrorists, which is heinous and dumb, that's like arresting Emanuel Lewis because Gary Coleman punched that woman. And yes, I am very worried about the troops but I am also worried that my reproductive rights might be taken away from me. And I- I am as scared of terrorism as everybody else but I am also scared that people over here are getting arrested by the FBI and the INS for having the wrong last name. And I am so so sorry that there is so much starvation in Iraq and so much starvation all over there but I am so sorry that there are young girls here starving themselves to death so they can look like the actresses on TV. I am hurt all over for this awful war and all of this stuff but I am hurt because somebody just got called a fag or a dyke or a pansy or a sissy or a bull dyke or a chink or a nigger or a kike or a wetback or an injun or a jap or a bitch or a whore or a cunt- and unless to you, that's a term of endearment (because in the right context it is)- that person is being attacked because of who they are, and I don't accept that, so I think that if racial minorities, sexual minorities, feminists both male and female, hell, all liberals, if we all got together and had this BIG "Too-Much-Information/Go-There" voice, if we just went and did it, that would equal power, and that power would equal change and that change would equal a REVOLUTION.

Taken from her Notorious C.H.O tour

If you are a woman, if you are a person of colour, if you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, if you are a person of size, if you are person of intelligence, if you are a person of integrity, then you are considered a minority in this world. And it's going to be really hard for us to find messages of self-love and support anywhere.... If you don't have self-esteem, you will hesitate to do anything in your life.... You will hesitate to report a rape. You will hesitate to defend yourself when you are discriminated against because of your race, your sexuality, your size, your gender. You will hesitate to vote; you will hesitate to dream. For us to have self-esteem is truly an act of revolution, and our revolution is long overdue.

I have no idea why I keep going back there considering that i don't post at all but the Ms. Message Forum is the most hypocritical pile of crap i've ever read.

Once again these so-called "equality freedom fighters" are spouting anti-male bile that is doing nothing but preventing equality. There are dozens of conversations on the acts of men which include cheating, degradation, rude and cruel behaviour, violence etc. What they tend to overlook at the forum is that women engage in the same behaviour.

Also these so-called open minded, non-ignorant individuals are totally close minded and totalitarian in their own behaviour. They believe in pro-choice and freedom of speech(as do i) yet they blather on about women they encounter who don't express the same views as themselves. Hence these women are stupid because they don't conform.

FUck shoot me now.

ok so my women's boxing essay won't be posted till sometime this weekend or next week. No i'm not procrastinating. I just have a whack load of work to do.

Firstly i have the Canucks For Kids Telethon to attend tomorrow evening. I'll be answering phones at GM place from 5:00 to 11:00.

Then on Thursday i have to work at Gap Kids Robson from 9:00 to 6:00. ARGH! What a pain in the ass. I'm really nervous about both of these by the way so send me some loving love love 'cause i could use it.

Then i have to write something for my mom to present to a committee to convince them to give more funding to second stage housing for battered wives and children.

So bear with me.

ahhh...reflections [20 Mar 2004|05:31pm]
you know i love music. I fucking love it. I used to be really adamant about music back when i started to play the guitar. One thing that always pushed my buttons was the disrespect for female musicians, particularly female guitarists.

At the time, in my teens, i would jump to the defense of female guitarists and ream out anyone who dare make an ignorant comment disregarding the ladies talents. Well i'm 20 now and for a while i haven't been fixed in the music discussion so much as another feminist revolt. I've been more so focusing my attention towards garnering respect for women in athletics as they too come out short and it's not fair. But i've just been browsing message forums about music and what not and the lack of respect for women guitarists is still adamant.

If i hear one more time about some asshole hasn't heard a female guitarist blow him away, i think i'll scream. It's not that these people haven't heard, they just haven't been looking. They base their decisions simply on the talent that is right in front of them and forced down their throats. Courtney Love, Avril Lavigne, Sheryl Crow and the girls of Lilix do not a good guitarist make. If these people would actually delve alittle deeper they would discover the talents of so many talented ladies.

IE!~~~~ Ellen McIllwaine, Lady Bo, Jennifer Batten, Ani Difranco, Bonnie Raitt, Joanna Connors, Melissa Ferrick, Lita Ford, Flavia Canel
Look and you'll find more. These ladies will rock your socks.

what's with the lack of respect for the personal essay? What up with that? I find that writing is my forte, my strength. Yes many will disagree and i say fuck you to you all. Seriously though i enjoy the poems and the fiction and the non fiction and what not but i find that my real talent shines when writing the personal and emotional essay. Or any essay for that matter. I call it head dump, a name a stole from eighth grade english yet it makes so much since. It's so much more evocative and more of a release to just start writing and see what comes out of your brain, down your arms and through your fingers. Simple as that. But you know the personal essay gets really overlooked by alot of people who make up the literary snobbery crowd. Just because there isn't always the use of huge difficult words like axiom and paradigm but who really cares. I'd rather use words that i can define quickly rather than have to search the dictionary in my mind. I've decided to write more and more head dumps. Many famous thinkers do just that. bell hooks, audre lorde, camille paglia, michael moore. SIngular and alone all their work in books would look like ramblings. But together in volumes and collections they make up so much more than just ramblin. They make up books. Love me please.

argh argh argh i have to work tomorrow. I actually don't mind working but due to my fucked up head i'm always very anxious and nervous leading up to when i actually arrive on site to work. It sucks. The good news is that i like everyone i work with so very much. It makes the experience so much easier especially for moi, considering it is my very first job job job. Plus i made one of my co-workers listen to Ani and she is now hooked. Fanatically hooked.

Whoopee pie!
